When cool was King

Labels: , , , ,

Hidey-Ho people. It's that time for another trip into the labyrinth that is my mind.

Around this corner is showgirls, smoked filled rooms, singing, dancing, Vegas, and drinking. No I aint talking about a Snoop concert I am talking about The Rat Pack. The Rat Pack consisted of Frank Sinatra, Dean Martin, Sammy Davis, Jr., Peter Lawford, and Joey Bishop. In the sixties these guys were kings! Nothing got done without their say so. Don't think so huh? Well they were a key part in getting John F. Kennedy elected. They brought the people to Vegas and selling out everytime. Segragation was still an issue in Las Vegas in the 60's until The Rat Pack refused to perform until black entertainers got equal share.

These crooners were in the time where you had to have game to get the girl. They cursed and drank and just made fun of themselves. Any barriers were knocked down in their act with 2 Jewish guys and 3 Italians(Sammy converted to Judism). It was a time of fun and carefree joy. They were friends and they stuck together until their deaths.

They influenced countless generations of people:

  1. The Brat Pack(1980's) - Emilio Estevez, Anthony Michael Hall, Rob Lowe, Andrew McCarthy, Demi Moore, Judd Nelson, Ally Sheedy, Molly Ringwald.
  2. The Frat Pack(1990's-2000's) - Jack Black, Ben Stiller, Will Ferrell, Vince Vaugh, Steve Carell, Owen Wilson and Luke Wilson.
  3. Jay-Z - Calling Roc-a-fella Records the New Rat Pack, "The Rap Pack, I'm Sinatra, Dame's Sam Davis, Big's the smart one on the low like Dean Martin" and "We Rat Pack niggaz, let Sam tap dance on you/Then, I Sinatra shot ya God damn you". With his overloard mentality many are calling Jay-Z the modern day Frank Sinatra.
  4. Movies - Ocean's Eleven is a remake The Rat Pack did in the 60's and the character Johnny Fontaine in The Godfather was based on Frank Sinatra.

No moral today just wanted to say think out the box and when you things do it your way not anyone elses.

"A friend is never an imposition" ~Frank Sinatra

I'm Just saying!
